Comments:

The grind & dye process involves using a Lavina concrete grinder to "open up" the surface of the concrete. This starts with using 30 grit diamonds. For a progressively smoother finish (less scratch marks) follow the 30 grit with 70 grit and then 120 grit. For a finish that closely resembles a polished floor go all the way up to 100 Calibra. Avoid a smoother finish than 70 grit for exterior surfaces where it will be wet.
After grinding to your preferred finish, you will color the floor (if desired) and then protect it with a "sealer". If you have gone up to 100 Calibra diamonds you will also want to burnish the floor to bring the shine out.
Another option item to get is an edger. If you remove the baseboards, the standard grinder does a pretty good job of getting to the edge. But, if you want that smooth, shiny finish all the way up to the edge without any scratches you will want to use an edger. Also, if you have small areas (closets) or nooks and crannies (around toilets) an edger may be needed.
You will also need a vacuum throughout the process to maintain the dust. Our vacuums are specifically designed for fine concrete dust. Trying to use a standard "shop vac" is not recommended. You will end up with dust in the air and will likely ruin the vacuum. Our vacuums also come with an ingenious dust disposal system that conveniently bags the dust so you can dispose of it without exposing yourself to it.
The grind and dye process requires a strong DIY intellect about using equipment and profiling material. If you have sanded hardwood floors before...it is very similar (and somewhat easier!). The package priced here is good for about 600 square feet.
